Dan Muñoz poses with his medal during the IFBB/NPC Championship on June 11, 2022 in Sacramento, California.

Dan Muñoz of Guam won the men’s bodybuilding championship at the International Bodybuilding Federation Pro League/National Physique Committee Championship on Saturday in Northern California.

The event took place in Sacramento where Muñoz took first place in the division.

Muñoz said he goes into each show he attends with fresh eyes, as each show is unique in its own way. “I really didn’t know what to expect coming into the show, but staying focused on my initial plan and goals helped me succeed in this competition,” Muñoz said.

Muñoz previously competed in the IFBB North American Championship in September 2017 in Pittsburgh. He finished in fifth place out of 13 in the Masters over-35 Light Heavyweight division, according to PDN files.

Muñoz has come a long way since, winning the medal overall. He also took the time to thank his family, friends, supporters and coach for keeping him motivated throughout the process.

He then said he was not ruling out another competition. “Yeah, you’ll definitely see me competing elsewhere later this year,” Muñoz said.
