Tom Platz is a golden age bodybuilder known for having some of the most defined legs of his generation. In a recent interview, Platz revealed his “minimal” two compound career cycle and gave his thoughts on the steroid regimens used by active bodybuilders today.

Mr. Universe winner Tom Platz has earned a reputation for his strength and perseverance in the gym. He competed primarily from the 1970s to the 1980s, where he graced the Mr. Olympia stage on several occasions. During his tenure in the sport, Tom has shared the stage alongside bodybuilding legends like seven-time Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Although he never won a Sandow trophy, Tom was respected in the community for his savage feats of strength, especially when it came to the squat weight. Even at the age of 65, Platz has proven to the masses that his lower body strength isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Apart from his accomplished career as well as his impressive quads, Platz has also established himself as a pioneer in the field of leg training with his unique methods and ideologies.

Tom Platz and Fred Hatfield engaged in a lesser-known squat contest in February 1992 to determine who was the WBF’s strongest man. Fred Hatfield won the contest, which was described as very close. Therefore, a second squat-off was decided in Germany.

In the fitness industry, the second squat off is known as the Great American Squat Off.

Steroids and drug regimens in bodybuilding have become a hot topic. Weightlifters, strongmen, and bodybuilders are often transparent these days and aren’t shy about sharing their cycle details with fans and followers.

Lately, the bodybuilding community has been rocked by a number of deaths in the community, which began with the death of Shawn Rhoden last year due to suspected heart complications.

This year the worrying trend continued as Cedric McMillan tragically passed away in April, although his wife said details surrounding his death have yet to be made official. Bodybuilder and NPC/IFBB judge Jerry Ward also died last month, and many have suggested a heart attack was the cause. According to Platz, bodybuilders will run into problems if they continue to push excessive amounts of equipment.

Tom Platz Reveals ‘Minimal’ Lifetime Bodybuilding Cycle Consisting of Two Compounds: ‘That’s All I Did’

In a video posted on YouTube, Tom Platz shared that he had only used Winstrol and Deca for his entire life/bodybuilding career.

“I got really strong. I was squatting six plates before I even took any medicine,” says Tom Platz. will hear that. 20 milligrams of Winstrol (Stanozolol) a day, the little pills, the little pink pills and a shot of Deca (Nandrolone) per week, 100 milligrams It was the drug cycle of my life. That’s it. That’s all I’ve ever done. says Tom Platz

According to Tom, he has never taken testosterone or synthetic drugs. He ran a “minimum” cycle and clarified that he took less medication than female bodybuilders.

“I never took testosterone. I never took any of these synthetic drugs. I took the minimum. I took less than the girls would have taken but it really worked for me. It worked for me. It gave me longevity, a livelihood, to this day. I think a high dose of medication can really lead to problems like we see today.

Platz compares bodybuilding drugs to a car show. The physique of the coachbuilder is the car, and the drugs he takes are the wax to polish the paint.

“I just try to be authentic and real, and drugs were like waxing the car. I remember once going to the Terry Wogan show in England, and I said, ‘Drugs will not make a volkswagen in a Ferrari,’ you know. But it’s like taking your car to the auto show, the drugs — you get your car waxed. You gotta be the guy, you gotta be the freak, the muscle guy, the muscle girl first, before you start relying on drugs to do it for you.

He added that he was unsure of the drugs currently used by bodybuilders and said it had become a different world.

“But I see what some guys are doing now with androgens and how it affects sarcoplasm, which is a fluid substance around muscle, as you know. It’s not really marine muscle gains, it’s more water being distributed. I’ve come to respect and understand modern times – I think we’re in a pharmacological quagmire. said Platz.

“It’s a different world. A little detour: for my part, when I started bodybuilding, I thought that I had to stay in my apartment and take a ton of drugs and eat every hour. Platz added. “For me, bodybuilding was about girls and the beach, bodybuilding and working out, tank tops and all that.”

Platz thinks the bodybuilding lifestyle has changed since he took part in the sport.

“Abundance and prosperity and living the dream. Now it’s like I’m a hermit. I live alone in a dark apartment and take a shitload of drugs – and hope to win. Why would a man or woman want to get into this sport?

Tom isn’t the only veteran or bodybuilder to believe that two compounds are most effective. Two-time defending Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead shared his steroid cycle recently. C-Bum only uses two compounds and said it believes its “diminished” cycle results in a better appearance.

Samir Bannout, another Golden Era bodybuilder, also gave his thoughts on the Bumstead cycle. Bannout agreed and said Arnold Schwarzenegger “at his best” also only used two compounds.
