“I used the term ‘functional bodybuilding’ because many of my workouts involve atypical strength and accessory exercises that focus on building certain parts of the body. There’s more isolation in my training lately than during the peak times of the CrossFit Games season.
“The movements we use are still quite functional and require coordination and balance, but they are performed slowly and controlled most of the time. Developing great control and strength in slower movements has allowed my brain and my body to become healthy and strong.
“I believe for many people this can and would be an effective way to train all year round for health, fitness and personal growth! Not to mention making you feel less beaten down.

“This is an easy way to set it up if you don’t have a proper Prone Row setup and bent bar. Great way to learn how to pull your upper back. Widen the grip to get even more flexors out of the arm.
